For information Mention has been made of the Victorian "Land for Wildlife" scheme. The following site has more detail for those interested in this scheme which promotes conservation of native vegetation on private property and how landholders can contribute to this goal. Since starting in Victoria on the 1980s the scheme has now been copied by a number of other states. http://www.nre.vic.gov.au/plntanml/native/landfor/index.htm or contact Stephen Platt, Statewide Coordinator, LFW Scheme on Martin O'Brien Executive Scientific Officer Scientific Advisory Committee Threatened Species Program Department of Natural Resources and Environment 4/250 Victoria Pde., East Melbourne, 3002 AUSTRALIA tel: +61 3 9412 4567 fax: +61 3 9412 4586 e-mail: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ |
