Oystercatchers inland

G'day all

Australia seems to be one of the few places where Oystercatchers are
seldom seen inland. Variable Oystercatchers are all over the farmland of
the South Island of New Zealand and I understand that the Eurasian
Oystercatcher is also common inland.

I have never seen our Pied Oystercatcher more than a few hundred metres
from the water and the Sooty Oystercatcher is probably even more tied to
the shore.
