Thanks for the responses to my queries about Pied Oystercatchers foraging
on grass. It seems my sighting was not unique and several others have also
observed this.

This then raises the question of what a supposedly marine/aquatic
invertebrate-consuming species would be feeding on, on dry land. Presumably
a host of other invertebrate delights such as earthworms and flies. Can
anyone shed any light on this?
