Hi everyone
The weather has at last cooled down up here in the Far north of Queensland,
a chilly 16°c overnight in Cairns.

20/5 2 Australian Pratincoles at Cairns airport (Early-Late?). Also present
were 4 Pacific Golden Plover after an absence of 4 weeks.

21/5 2 Long-billed Corellas flying over Cairns Golf Course at White Rock
(southern suburb). These are part of an introduced flock of at least 5 birds
which have been seen around Cairns.

22/5 243 Sulphur-crested Cockatoos foraging in a freshly ploughed field at
Caravonica (Northern suburb). Over 300 were present earlier in the month-
Stan Emerson. Also present were 2
Black-necked Storks.

23-24/5 At Kaban (Atherton Tableland) Interesting sightings here included 5
Pacific Bazas, Grey Goshawk, Yellow Thornbill and Crested Shrike-tit (these
last two species are not common on the Tableland).

24/5 5 Sarus Cranes south of Malanda on the Atherton Tableland (early
returning birds).
