Sorry not to have been more precise - I saw the Little Egrets in the
Pumicestone Passage between the mainland and Bribie Island SE Queensland on
2/4. In these parts Great, Intermediate and Little Egrets are all pretty
common and you only have to go to Caloundra (on the mainland at the north
end of Bribie) to see Eastern Reef Egrets. There were three there
yesterday - 2 white phase, 1 dark phase.
There were also plenty of seabirds at Caloundra yesteray including
Wedge-tailed (5) and Short-tailed (50+) Shearwaters, Arctic (2) and Pomarine
(10) Skuas - great entertainment - and about 40 White-winged Terns, most in
full breeding plumage, amongst the many Little, Common, Crested, Caspian and
Gull-billed Terns. Brown and Masked Booby were seen 10 days ago.
Waders were good too including Sooty Oystercatcher (5), Double-banded Plover
(5) and Pacific Golden Plover (25 - most 'coloured up' as they say around
here). I've seen Wandering Tattler here in the past.
