Dongas are often used on outback properties in Queensland (and in WA) as
accommodation for shearers or stockmen. Some are divided into 2-bed
cubicles and others into toilet and shower facilities. They are in
increasing usage for back packer accommodation in the Gulf and other areas
of the tropics where accommodation might otherwise be limited. The donga
at Kingfisher Park is very comfortable and costs $25 per night from
memory; whereas on Shark Bay I stayed in a more humble donga for $11 per
night. Birders can do far worse than stay in one....

Cheers
