Here's the trip report for the latest Portland pelagic that sailed  last
Sunday the 5th of March.
HIGHLIGHTS: A total of 11 Bullers Albatross was an unprecendented number for
Portland.(Previously only singles? have been obseved from here). Other
highlights included a feeding frenzy of birds (gannets, albatross,
shearwaters,penguins & terns)attracted to schools of small fish being forced
to the surface by a pod of 100 Common Dolphins, two Common Diving Petrels
and sightings of a Humpback Whale and a probable Sei Whale.
CONDITIONS:departed 0720 reaching the shelfbreak at 1120 continued on to a
point 26 miles SW of Lawrence Rocks before turning in at 1400. Docked at
1730. Swell:4-5 m easing to 2.5-4. Wind:nil to light. Cloud cover:100%.
