I watched 30 or so House Sparrows eating a bowl of spaghetti bolognese in
Swanston Street today.(They had an audience of about 20 people,too -
birding is catching on!) I can't be 100% sure but I think they were eating
the bol sauce & the spaghetti....... Either way, it was obviously more
appealing to them than its previous human owner ;-)
BTW Lawrie, if the heron was only feeding on the maggots, but not the
flesh, does that absolve it from being a scavenger/carrion feeder? Or does
it become one by association?
