I passed your query re Malaysian electricity on to my husband (who was
an
electrician and is now working in Malaysia)-what better person to answer
it. Anyway, here's the info he sent back:
Malaysian voltage is 220 volts and supply frequency (hertz) is 50Hz.
Australian electrical equipment is completely compatible with this and
needs no adjustments. The outlets are the British 3 flat pin type (earth
pin to the top) and adaptors are required. These are readily available from
any duty free store. So you can take your spotlight and recharge it there.
Also, Susan Myers is correct in warning about the batteries. If they are
lead acid type, the airlines will not let them be transported in your
luggage. You can however, buy a small motorbike battery in Malaysia quite
easily (the place is full of motorbikes) and use that for the duration of
your stay there.
