Hi, does anyone have any details of successful artificial nestboxes for Barn Owls? Group in Wet Tropics area wants to work with farmers to install poles with suitable nest boxes - aim: encourage owls as rodent predators in canefields (reduce use of Kleerat etc). For various reasons, actual hollow logs NOT feasible. Have given them the usual references (Hugo Phillips, BOCA) but so far the only successful report we've found for owls is from John Young (using hollow logs). Rupert Russell would welcome any info FAX 07-40982279 - or I'll pass anything on to him that people email to me THANKS! Elinor Scambler |
