     Highlights in New South Wales over the last week are few and far between:

     AUSTRALIAN BITTERN 4 Deniliquin 8/1
     PACIFIC BAZA       1 Devlin's Creek, Beecroft (Sydeny) 10/1
     BROWN QUAIL        2 Mason Park, Strathfield (Sydney) 5/1
     BAILLON'S CRAKE    several at each of the swamps in the Hawksbury
     AUSTRALIAN CRAKE   several at each of the swamps in the Hawksbury
     SPOTLESS CRAKE     1 Metromix Swamp, Cronulla 4/1 and 1 dead Narella,
                        Sydney 26/12
     BLACK-WINGED STILT         190 Homebush Bay, Sydney 3/1 - high number
     INLAND DOTTEREL    2 bewteen Hay and Deniliquin 8/1
     JAPANESE SNIPE     500 Stockrington Swamp, Newcastle 27/12
     BAR-SHOULDERED DOVE        2 La Perouse, Botany Bay Nat. Park 5/1
     KOEL       plenty of juveniles around in Sydney currently including
                two together at Chiswick (Sydney).

     As with feral parrots in last week's note, I wish to point out that
     the Wandering Whistling Duck in Sydney's Botanical Gardens is a
     resident feral bird.
