Hi Keith and Lindsay
As soon as I got the email I slipped down to have a look for the Red-rumped
Swallows at about 4pm and only found about 20 Fairy Martins and 2 Tree
Martins. At 11am on 2 Jan there were 5 Red-rumped Swallows even more Fairy
Martins and a Barn Swallow! I have been lucky enough to see Red-rumped
Swallows near there 2 years ago with very pale rumps, these ones today were
bright red. I am very interested in immature plumages of Great-billed Herons
because there is very little info recorded, did you get a photo?
Thank you for the info on the Red-rumped Swallows as we still have a few
visiting birdwatchers and I have been passing the info on. Incidently there
are quite a few juvenile Welcome Swallows with short tails upstream and I
have had very few swifts this year.
