| Subject: | Tasmanian high country bird call |

Over Christmas I had the pleasure of walking the Overland Track in Tasmania from Cradle Mt. to Lake St. Claire. The weather was poor and the number of birds was low. One of the common bird calls in the Eucalyptus forest sounded exactly like "shit-a-brick". The only bird I could see was the Yellow Throated Honeyeater. The field guides and the BOCA tapes give one of the calls of this species as "pick-it-up". Can anyone to on the list advise if it was likely to be the Yellow Throated Honeyeater that we were hearing or if there is a different species which has a call more like "shit-a-brick" than "pick-it-up"? Thank you.
