My partner Fiona and I were cycling along the Yarra River in
Abbotsford/Collingwood in inner Melbourne, Victoria. When we got to
Dight's Falls, we were treated to the spectacle of a male Darter
successfully fishing in the deep water behind the weir (I think it
caught a Redfin??). Later it came out to roost on a stick next to the
weir. I've seen a few solitary Darters in the wider Geelong area just
to the west in Victoria, but don't know much about their distribution or
occurence in Melbourne. Any comments?
