Another place to visit around Auckland is Tiritiri Matangi Island. I think
the  boat leaves Whangaparaoa each Tuesday and Sunday. Tirtiri has over the
last 16 years been revegetated and most of the birds present are the off
spring of reintroduced species. You should see Bellbird, Tui, Grey Warbler,
Whitehead, Red-crowned Parakeet and Stitchbird and the truly amazing
looking Takahe.
