This reminds me of a friend who grumbled about the time when he saw only
27 species over three months at work - in fact, during the whole three
months, including time off for birding!  The poor fellow was working on
Spitzbergen, north of the Arctic Circle - you know, Harlequin Duck on the
doorstep, King Eider everywhere, ho-hum ....
