Bird-ausers thankyou for your replies. It seems that the kiwi wins so far with the longest incubation period (~ 80 days). Other incubation periods collected were : lyrebirds (70-75 days) mallefowl (62-64 days) Emu (50-57 days) Ostrich (42-47 days) Incidentally the New Zealanders should be commended for their web pages on the kiwi http://www.doc.govt.nz/biodiver/pbf1340.htm ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Shane Raidal BVSc PhD MACVSc Avian Health Lecturer in Veterinary Pathology Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences Murdoch University phone: +61 8 9360 2418 Perth,WA, 6150 fax: +61 8 9310 4144 Australia ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~oo00oo~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ |
