Rainbow Bee-eaters

Hi All.

On Sunday (11/10), I had the thrill of seeing a flock of Rainbow
Bee-eaters (RBE's) in my front yard. I was drawn outside by a deafening
chorus of calls which seemd to be coming from a dense Eucalypt in my front
yard. I
could not see any birds however. At this point, a rather stupid cat ran up
the tree, scaring out a flock of 30-40 RBE's which wheeled overhead before
departing the yard. The sighting was at 5:55 PM, so I assume they were
roosting for the night. I heard my first RBE last week, and they are no
migrating southwards in WA. My sighting was however, unusual in that I
live in the heart of suburbia, far from any bushland.

Have any other birders had similar experiences with RBE flocks?

Cheers,

Rob.
