G'Day All

Went birding at various places in Western Sydney Yesterday (28/9/97) :

1) CAAIRTS at Shanes Park

Here I saw atleast 10 Swift Parrot's flying overhead, heading
south, common Bronzewing, Peaceful Doves, several Pallid Cuckoo's,
Horsfield's and Golden Bronze-cuckoo's, Rufous Whister's (one of the most
dominant bird's here), Jacky winter (now rare around Blacktown), a
Boobook Owl beeing mobbed by a group of Noisy Miners, many White-throated
Warbler's, White-winged Choughs and White-browed/Masked Woodswallow's
flying overhead (the latter was heard only but identified by call).I aso
trod on a Brown snake and was very lucky not to get bitten.

2) Windsor Turf Farm's

Banded Lapwing pair nesting (I was dived bombed by both species of
Lapwing yesterday), Rainbow Bee-eater (atleast 5 near the Hawkesbury
River)

3) Pitt Town

Here I saw Sharp-tailed Sandpiper's, Latham's Snipe, Chestnut-breasted
Mannakin's at the Lagoon and a male Scarlet Honeyeater singing in the
Township.

Until next time....
