Dear Ozbirders

A couple of Charles Darwin questions for your amusement & my

(i) I don't have my Uruguayan field guide handy, so I'm having trouble
working out what the Large Pampas Finch (Emberizsides jardicoola) is in
modern terms. Charles Darwin brought this one down in Uruguay during
his jaunt around the world. Any clues?

(ii) The other of his specimens marked "Ammodramus manimbe" is clearly
one of the North American "sparrows", though I'm unsure what the current
synonym of A. manimbe is.

Thanks in advance
