Hi , I'm after some help identifying a small wader. I was at Stansbury on the Weekend on Yorke Pen. in SA and saw a small wader with a needle - like bill. The bill was three times the length of it's head. It had very dark gey to black wings with a whitish pale head and underparts. I could not get a clear view of the colour of it's legs. I was using old 8 x 30 ( Hanimax ) bins. Using Slater's field guide I came up with Little Greenshank or Wilson's Phalarope although I'm not sure whether it had the Phalarope bar through the eye. I think I need better equipment. Could some-one let me know if these two ' hits ' are near the mark Thanks Peter. . |
