While in Tumby Bay on lower Eyre Peninsula over Christmas I noticed
a couple of flocks of several hundred Cape Barren Geese both sides of
the Louth Bay access road just off the Lincoln Highway, and on Big Swamp
on the road to the Coffin Bay and the west from Port Lincoln.

There are usually a few birds near American River on Kangaroo Island but
in nowhere near the numbers of the Louth Bay group. The American River
birds number less than 10.

Some of the off-shore islands in Spencer Gulf are reserved for the
conservation of these birds.
