Dear colleagues,

Through a cooperative partnership between Elon University and the USDA, we are excited to announce that we are hiring a Research Associate to join our team working on vibrational communication in spotted lanternflies (SLF) (Hemiptera: Lycorma delicatula). Research will focus on elucidating the role of SLF vibrational signals in insect mate selection behaviors, aggregation, and other behaviors that may be exploited as pest control methods.

This 12-month appointment has the possibility of renewal for up to three years. Ideal candidates will have a Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Biology, Entomology, or a related discipline, demonstrated research experience and expertise in vibrational communication (i.e., biotremology), and a strong publication record. Applicants must be eligible to work in the U.S. under a cooperative agreement with the USDA, and employment is contingent on passing a background check. First deadline to apply is November 20, 2026, but the position will remain open until filled.

To apply, please submit a cover letter, CV, transcripts, and a list of three references to: https://jobs.elon.edu/jobs/research-associate-in-insect-vibrational-communication-off-campus-north-carolina-united-states

Please share this info with any potential applicants and feel free to contact us for more information at:
