For those interested in advancing their training in marine bioacoustics, I want to share information about the International Master’s Programme in Ocean Resources (https://www.ntnu.edu/studies/msocean/)
at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU,
https://www.ntnu.edu/). It is a two-year multidisciplinary MSc-programme, providing specialization in Natural Sciences or Engineering Science.
The programme aims to give the students a broad perspective in addition to their main in-depth field specialization. In addition to the study of marine bioacoustics, some of the other possible fields of study
include phytoplankton and zooplankton ecology, carbon cycling, marine optics and ocean colour observation. For more details on current research groups visit:
https://www.ntnu.edu/biology/research/marine-sciences
NTNU is also a partner in the University Centre in Svalbard (UNIS;
https://www.unis.no/studies/) and students have an opportunity to take courses on Svalbard during the spring semester
of their first year.
Upcoming application deadlines are 1 March for EU/EEA/Swiss students and 15 April for Norwegian/Nordic students. There are no tuition fees for students from Norway, EU/EEA and Switzerland.
