Dear Bioacoustics Community,
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America (JASA)
and JASA Express Letters are calling for papers for a joint Special Issue on “Verification and Validation of Source and Propagation Models for Underwater Sound.”
The effects of sound on marine life are a growing concern globally. To predict the possible effects of a sound producing activity (or sound source), one must be able to predict the generated sound field, then predict
the potential for the exposure of marine life (the dose). Combining information on the sound field with information on the dose-effect relationship enables estimation of the potential effects. This special issue invites papers on the verification (model-model
comparison) and validation (model-measurement comparison) of marine sound source and propagation models, as well as papers on metrics for calculating the dose on marine species.
Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):
-
Verification and validation of underwater sound source models
-
Verification and validation of underwater sound propagation models
-
Metrics for impact assessment of underwater sound sources
Submission Deadline
-
Deadline for manuscripts is October 2, 2023
