**apologies for cross-postings**
Online registration is now open for the
2023 Global Ocean Science Education (GOSE) Workshop, which will be held from May 23-25, 2023 on the University
of Rhode Island Graduate School of Oceanography campus in Narragansett, Rhode Island USA.
The 2023 GOSE Workshop will focus on sound in the ocean, including the science of underwater sound, animal sound production and reception, and people's use of sound underwater. International
regulations related to underwater sound, the technologies that use sound, and related workforce development will also be included in the program. Participants will share ideas about what people want to know and should know about these topics, related educational
strategies, and resources for a variety of audiences, including students, the public, existing workforce, and policymakers.
The registration fee is $275; lunch and break refreshments will be provided each day. Travel expenses, including airfare, housing, ground transportation, breakfasts, dinners, and transportation to/from campus will be the responsibility of workshop participants.
There is limited travel support. Priority for travel support will be given to speakers, graduate students, community college students, and faculty from minority serving institutions. Only airfare and hotel costs can be covered. If you would like to inquire
about travel support, please complete the online travel support application form at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2023GOSEtravel.
Please note, only the first 139 registrants will be accomodated and apologize in advance if the workshop fills up quickly. You will be notified by email when your registration is confirmed. Once your registration is confirmed, you will also be sent a list
of local hotels. There are also a good deal of airbnbs within a short distance from campus.
Please forward this email and the registration site (https://gose2023.eventbrite.com) to your colleagues who may be interested in participating. Questions?
Please contact Gail Scowcroft (
Best Regards,
The GOSE Workshop Steering Committee
