Dear Colleagues:

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America (JASA) is hosting a special issue on Fish Bioacoustics.  This is one of the first, if not the first, peer-reviewed journal issues  devoted to the breadth of fish bioacoustics - from hearing to sound communication to anthropogenic sound, and any related topics.  JASA has already published about 12 papers in the special issue, and we have now extended the deadline for the issue until MAY 31, 2023!!!

Articles can be of many types  - for example, they can be:

  • “Special Issue Article” article type for research articles;
  • “Forum Article” for perspectives (may express opinions, advocate actions, anecdotes, or historical fact);
  • “Review Article” for reviews; or
  • “Letters to the Editor” for short research articles (3-4 published pages).

Please  see: https://asa.scitation.org/jas/info/specialissues/cfp_030123  to learn more about this special issueArticles and how to submit.

All articles in the special issue are peer-reviewed and are published on line in JASA shortly after acceptance.  Once the issue is closed (May 31) and all articles accepted, all will appear in a special JASA issue as well.  But, the important point is that papers, once accepted, are online, listed in the recent issue of JASA, and open access.

There are NO charges for publication in the special issue. And, even as the Impact Factor of JASA continues to rise,  we also see that articles in special issues, such as this, have rather higher impact factors than regular articles.

Editors of the special issue are listed below.

If you have any questions, please reach out to Dr. Popper or any of the other editors.
