Dear All,
I wanted to bring to your attention new miniature acoustic data-loggers that we have recently used to tag and record bats to study sociality in the field:
The tags can weigh as little as 2gr (depending on the battery) and they can store up to 16GB of data. They have a knowles microphone and can sample at up to 500kHz (at 12 bit).
I was thinking that they can be used by researchers who want to lift a tag high above ground to record the canopy of other high points of interest - they can be easily carried up by a helium balloon.
The tags are produced by ASD inc. (we help with the design and the QA).
For more information, please contact the designer and manufacturer Alex Swartz:
And you are also welcome to contact me.
Best
