Dear all,

The latest issue of the journal "IEEE Transactions on Audio, Speech and
Language Processing" is a special issue on sound scene and event
analysis. It features two articles about sound analysis and birds:

On-Bird Sound Recordings: Automatic Acoustic Recognition of Activities
and Contexts
Stowell et al (2017)
http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/7933044/
(open access)

Spectrogram Enhancement Using Multiple Window Savitzky-Golay (MWSG)
Filter for Robust Bird Sound Detection
Koluguri et al (2017)
http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/7933047/

There are also various other articles about algorithms for analysis of
sound scenes in general. ToC:
