The Bioacoustics Research Program in the Department of Biology, Saint
Mary's College, Notre Dame, Indiana, invites applications for
a bioacoustics and signal processing postdoc beginning Fall of 2016 (start
date flexible) to work on a DoD-sponsored project investigating bat
echolocation. This is a 25-month, full-time position.

Successful applicants should have solid programming skills
(including MATLAB), prior bioacoustics experience, the ability to use and
experiment with electronics hardware and software and a good knowledge of
signal processing techniques. Travel for fieldwork and/or conferences will
be expected, so applicants should also have strong interpersonal skills and
good oral and written communication.

Primary Job Duties

   - Develop new algorithms for data analysis in time and frequency domain
   - Design and implement ultrasonic acoustic recording platforms
   - Improve existing video analysis algorithms
   - Organize findings into scientific manuscripts and communicate findings
   at conferences
   - Train undergraduate students on data collection and analysis


Required Qualifications

   - PhD in bioacoustics, engineering, computer science, or related field
   - Knowledge and experience using MATLAB and Signal Processing Toolbox
   - Knowledge and experience using and experimenting with electronics
   hardware and software
   - Knowledge and experience with signal processing techniques
   - Strong oral and written communication skills
   - Ability to travel during the summer months and conduct outdoor
   fieldwork
