I have a vacancy for a postdoctoral researcher in the area of invertebrate acoustics, focussing on the function of insect hearing organs. This work will involve the use of a wide range of research techniques, including finite element simulation,
experimental measurement and data analysis. Experimental measurements will include work with a new 3D scanning laser vibrometer, and a new x-ray CT scanning system. Training will be provided in the use of these new experimental systems, and in the development
of finite element simulations, as appropriate to the new researcher. The researcher will be part of an inter-disciplinary team, working together to take the findings from investigations of different insect ears to inform the development of new artificial acoustic
sensors.
