The postdoctoral associate will participate in research to 1) observe and document red palm weevil adult host-seeking and egg-laying behavior; 2) collect and analyze acoustic and vibrational signals from red palm weevil larvae in Saudi Arabia and other countries where they are currently found using insect acoustic detection instrumentation and insect acoustic signal analysis software; 3) assist with laboratory and field studies to improve the operation of the instruments and signal analysis procedures; 4) conduct comparative studies with other tree pests..

This position requires a Ph.D. in entomology, agricultural engineering or a closely related field that has equipped the applicant with the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to conduct field experiments to collect Red Palm Weevil acoustic signals, and conduct spectral and temporal analyses.
