The Applied Research Laboratory at Penn State has 2 openings for masters or doctoral level graduate students investigating long-term trends in ambient ocean sound. Students interested in sound propagation modeling of marine animals signals, time series statistics, effect of ocean basin features on sound propagation, and the impact & implications of ambient sound on ecosystem dynamics and signal detection will be considered. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and have completed basic physics, statistics, and advanced mathematics courses through differential equations. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in computer programming (e.g. Matlab), acoustic analysis software (e.g. XBAT), and statistical analysis software (e.g. R). Interested applicants should send a CV and transcript history to Jennifer Miksis-Olds and David Bradley (m("psu.edu","dlb25");">) prior to formal program application through the Graduate Program in Acoustics.
