POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Title: Acoustics Technology Developer

Rank: Post-Doctoral Research Associate OR Faculty Research Assistant

Salary: $38,160-$45,000 depending upon experience and degree

Start Date: August 2005

This 9-month, full-time, fixed-term appointment is through the
Cooperative Institute for Marine Resources Studies in support of a
project on passive acoustic monitoring of large whales under the
direction of Dr. David Mellinger. Reappointment is at the discretion
of the CIMRS Director.

QUALIFICATIONS: 
Required
- Ph.D./M.S./B.S. in science, engineering, or related disciplines.
  (Individuals with a Ph.D. will be appointed at the Research
  Associate rank; individuals with a M.S. or B.S. will be appointed at
  Faculty Research Assistant rank)
- Familiarity with Unix and Windows operating systems.
- At least three years experience using C or C++ language and at least
  one year of object-oriented programming in C++ or another
  object-oriented language.
- Ability to present results at regional and international meetings.

Preference may be given to applicants with experience in the following
areas:
- Digital signal processing, preferably audio signal processing
- Working within a research environment and with other research teams
- Demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity
