<address>Title: <strong>96 kHz sound cards</strong></address>
<P><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">Dear all,</FONT>
</P>
<P><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">Excited by the possibility of easily (and
cheaply) recording and analysing animal sounds up to frequencies of 48kHz, I
have just tested a Creative Sound Blaster Extigy sound card. Although the card
will sample happily at 96kHz, it is clear that there is a filter in the card
which cuts out everything above about 22kHz, thereby not giving me access to
any more of the spectrum that I had with my old 48kHz card.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">Has anyone tested any of the other 96kHz cards
now on the market to see if they will let sound through in the upper part of
the spectrum ? </FONT></P>
<P><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">I will collate responses and send them back to
this list.</FONT>
</P>
<P><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">Many thanks,</FONT>
